Our Cemetery

West Newton Cemetery has been serene in appearance, blending nature with the memorials to loved ones throughout the grounds. West Newton Cemetery was founded in 1852, exemplifying the movement to establish community-oriented cemeteries throughout the United States during the 1850s. The Cemetery is a non-profit organization, where no individual receives any compensation outside of regular wages and salaries paid for services rendered. A board of seven trustees constantly worked to ensure that the Cemetery is maintained for future generations. Easily accessible from the Great Allegheny Passage trail, the Cemetery’s 45 acres of laid out sections are accessible to the public year round.
